Sections for G5–G8 and G9–G12; 34 weeks. Next: AI Olympiad sprint.

USAAIO Level 1

Open to grades 5–10, beginners and experienced coders alike: programming basics, intro algorithms, first machine learning, leading to Level 2.

How workshops run

Workshops enroll in rolling short terms: one seat lets a child rotate through 3 to 4 domains in a year, 7 to 8 weeks each, with a finished piece every session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a competition class?

No. It is an intro workshop that builds coding ability, logical thinking and creativity through hands-on projects, without entering contests. Students preparing seriously for the USA AI Olympiad (USAAIO) should look at the AI Olympiad sprint. EDUBUS runs its in-person sections from its Irvine studio, alongside an online section.

Can Irvine beginners join with no coding background?

Yes. USAAIO Level 1 is open to beginners and experienced coders alike, starting from programming basics before moving to introductory algorithms and a first look at machine learning. Classes are split into G5–G8 and G9–G12 sections, and most students enrolling come from Irvine and nearby communities.

Which grades does Level 1 cover?

Grades 5 to 10. Level 1 is designed to build foundations and prepare students for the Level 2 sprint class. The workshop itself runs 34 weeks a year and is open to grades 5 through 12; for a broader view by grade, see the grade-by-grade guide.

What comes next for Irvine students after the intro workshop?

The AI Olympiad sprint, which is the Level 2 track. Students move on once they have covered programming basics, introductory algorithms and first machine learning here, and are ready for training aimed at the competition itself.

Can an Irvine student's seat cover other subjects too?

Yes. Workshops enroll in rolling short terms, so a single seat lets a student rotate through 3 to 4 different domains over the year, 7 to 8 weeks each, finishing a piece of work in every term.
