How do Irvine students combine AP seminars with school?

They are built for pre-study and exam preparation. The seminars teach the harder material before or alongside the school course across a 32-week year with no spring break, so the content is already familiar when it arrives in class. The target throughout is a 5 on the AP exam.

Can an Irvine 8th grader take AP math here?

Yes. AP math seminars are open to grades 8 through 12 and cover Precalculus, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC. Whether it fits depends on where the student already is in the math sequence; the Irvine Unified School District path is set out in the math path overview.

Who is the summer pre-study for?

Students in grades 10 and 11. The three-week summer session covers AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics 1, in person or online. The purpose is to prepare the ground before fall course selection, so those courses are less demanding during the school year.

What if an Irvine school does not offer the AP subject?

Take it as 1-on-1 tutoring. More than twenty AP subjects are available 1-on-1, online or in person, by hour package; whether a school offers a given AP can be checked in the Irvine high school guides. Spring seminars also open additional subjects such as Statistics, Physics C, Biology, Psychology, and Human Geography for students who prefer a group.

Do AP history students need separate writing work?

Usually yes. AP US History and AP World History run as online seminars, and the document-based question is the part of the AP history exams where scores spread the most. It is trained on its own in the DBQ writing course.
